Historic capital of the Alto Palancia and an episcopal seat since the Middle Ages, Segorbe is a small golden-stone city with a medieval aqueduct, a fine table and a September fiesta of International Tourist Interest you should witness at least once.
The Cathedral-Basilica museum keeps one of the best collections of Valencian Gothic masters (€7 with audioguide; Tue–Sat 11 am–1 pm). Beneath the temple, the crypts; around the old town, the medieval Botxí and Prison towers, the walled stretch with its Gothic aqueduct and the free Star Fort. The "Key of Segorbe" combined ticket, at the tourist office, bundles the entries at a discount.
And every September, the Entrada de Toros y Caballos: at 2 pm sharp during fiesta week (7–13 September in 2026), six fighting bulls gallop down Calle Colón driven by a dozen riders, between a human corridor with no fences or barriers. Two minutes of pure horsemanship whose origins go back to medieval transhumance.
For the Entry, arrive before noon to park and get a spot on Calle Colón (balconies are rented out), then stay for a fiesta menu in the town's mesones. Off-season, the Interpretation Centre replays the Entry on film all year. Don't leave without Serrana de Espadán olive oil and Segorbe cured meats.
Every day of Segorbe's September fiesta week (7–13 September in 2026), at 2 pm sharp on Calle Colón.
There are quieter spots and balconies for rent; you can also experience it crowd-free at the Interpretation Centre, open all year.
